ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to know and compare HI titer of Avian Influenza viruses subtype H5 in pigs sera by using pig RBC (Red Blood Cell). The samples for HI test were collected from sera of pigs in Surabaya abattoir that have been added RDE (Receptor Destroying Enzyme) 3:1. HI test is positive when inhibition of agglutination is shown, that is signed by haemagglutination on the base of microplate’s wells. The concentration of pig RBC which was used in these study were 0,125%; 0,25%; 0,375%; 0,5%; 0,625%; 0,75%; 0,875%; 1% and 0,5% chicken RBC The result showed that pig RBC with 0,875% concentration were the highest HI titer than the others.

Key words: Avian Influenza, HI titer, pigs sera
